How to Drink Coffee Too Hot Causes Esophageal Cancer

The panel of scientists to the World Health Organization (WHO) has recently concluded that coffee could possibly lead to cancer if taken too hot. The explanation then continued again that it is but nothing special for the coffee, but also drinks in general.

Specifically, all of the fluid temperatures around 65 degrees Celsius upwards called the researchers in the journal The Lancet Oncology at risk for esophageal cancer trigger. How this could happen is explained by Mariana Stern from The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) for a drink with these temperatures can damage the lining of the esophagus.

"The hypothesis that exists today is a thermal injury to the lining of the esophagus may encourage the formation of cancer. Is it because it is heat itself or no exposure to other carcinogenic agents remains unclear," Stern said as quoted by Live Science, Monday (27/06/2016 ).

The explanation is believed to be strongest when the wall of the esophagus is damaged, then automatically the cells will repair themselves. Now with daily exposure to carcinogens common human body (ranging from air pollution, food, and beverages, as well as oxidative stress), the more cells that grow to replicate itself, the greater the possibility of mutation.

Furthermore, esophageal surgeon Dr. Brant Oelschlager from the University of Washington said the existing cells in the lining of the esophagus wall of this type with the cells of the skin.

"On account of extreme smolders, we know in some cases cancer develops from scars. The same thing is likely to occur here. The cells of the esophagus repeatedly wounded and recover the possibility of replicating itself and form cancer," said Dr. Oelschlager.
